Job Summary
As a Payroll Specialist you will be responsible for managing payroll processing for multiple clients, ensuring compliance with Irish employment law and Revenue requirements. The role involves handling various payroll cycles, maintaining accurate records and providing expert payroll support to clients. Key Responsibilities
Client payroll processing
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing for multiple clients across various industries (weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls).
- Ensure compliance with Irish tax regulations, including PAYE, USC, and PRSI calculations.
- Process new hires, terminations, bonuses, commissions and salary adjustments.
- Handle statutory leave payments (sick pay, maternity/paternity leave) and redundancy payments.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of payroll-related taxes to Revenue via ROS.
Client support & advisory
- Act as the primary payroll contact for multiple clients, addressing payroll queries and providing expert advice
- Assist clients in understanding payroll legislation, pension schemes, and other statutory obligations
- Provide guidance on payroll best practices and process improvements.
- Deliver payroll reports and reconciliations as per client requirements.
Compliance & reporting
- Stay updated with Irish payroll legislation, Revenue guidelines and employment laws.
- Ensure payroll compliance with GDPR and best data protection practices.
- Prepare and submit payroll-related tax returns and end-of-year filings (e.g., P30, P35, P60, P45, and Employment Detail Summary).
- Conduct payroll audits and resolve discrepancies.
Process & system management
- Use and manage payroll software (e.g., BrightPay, Sage, Thesaurus or similar).
- Ensure seamless payroll system integration with accounting software.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency.
- Support the automation of payroll functions and reporting
Key requirements
Education & qualifications
- Payroll or Accounting qualification (IPASS qualification preferred).
- Strong knowledge of Irish payroll legislation and tax requirements
Experience
- Minimum 2+ years of payroll processing experience in an accounting firm or payroll bureau.
- Experience managing multiple client payrolls simultaneously.
- Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., BrightPay, Sage, Thesaurus, ADP).
